With all the bad economic news these days, it sure is nice to find an industry that is growing jobs rather than loosing them.  Jobs in renewable energy are on the increase, and if fact may even be experiencing a shortage. Solar and wind power are the big two driving the demand for trained workers. According to worldchanging.com much of the job growth is occurring in the pacific Northwest where companies like SolarWorld and Horizon Wind Energy are employing thousands.

Colleges and universities are creating programs to prepare students for new jobs in green technologies too. Lane Community College in Oregon, Cascadia Community College in Washington and Highland Community College in Illinois are several that have recently added solar and/or wind related programs to their curriculum.
